Erin Fant, Esq.

Erin Fant is an Associate Attorney at For Purpose Law Group, where she pairs sharp tax instincts with a real feel for what it takes to run a mission-driven organization. She spent her first two years out of law school in a large firm's tax practice, structuring cross-border mergers and acquisitions, renewables projects, joint ventures, IPOs, and debt offerings, and making sure those deals held up once the IRS came looking.

That work put her in rooms most young associates don't see, but it's her pro bono docket that points most directly toward FPLG. She negotiated the sale of historic structure tax credits for a Houston nonprofit, a deal that generated more than $1.2 million toward the organization's mission, and the instinct behind that work goes back well before law school.

Erin spent nearly a year at the Brown Foundation, a $2 billion family foundation, where she built the induction program that gets each new class of Brown family trustees up to speed on investment strategy and governance, and she managed grantmaking, contracts, and impact tracking as a Special Projects Consultant for the Powell Foundation.

She has also supported executive-level recruiting for nonprofits and foundations, planned development events for a fellowship that helps under-resourced students get into and through selective colleges, and spent four years running sponsor services and merchandise for the Houston Marathon, including a two-day EXPO that drew more than 62,000 attendees and grew sponsor sales 16.5 percent in a single year.

Erin earned her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 2024, where she was active in the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law Society and the Women's Law Caucus, studied abroad at the University of Copenhagen, and completed a semester in practice with Rice University's Office of General Counsel. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Sport Management from Rice University, where she also spent a year studying at Trinity College Dublin, and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2024.

At FPLG, Erin brings the same close attention to nonprofit and social enterprise clients that she developed advising on complex corporate deals, and having worked inside a family foundation herself, she reads a compliance question or a gift agreement the way someone who has sat on both sides of the table does. Outside the office, she plans trips around where to eat more than what to see, paints in oils, and is usually testing out a new recipe.
