Disclaimer
The information you obtain at this site is not, nor is it intended to be, legal advice. You should consult an attorney for advice regarding your individual situation. We invite you to contact us and welcome your calls, letters, and electronic mail. Contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please do not send any confidential information to us until such time as an attorney-client relationship has been established.
For Purpose Law Group (“FPLG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a professional law corporation certified to provide legal services by the California Secretary of State and the State Bar of California.
FPLG’s attorneys are admitted to practice law in various jurisdictions. Representation of clients in matters arising outside those jurisdictions may be undertaken in compliance with applicable rules, including by associating with counsel admitted in the relevant jurisdiction where required. FPLG will always take all necessary steps to ensure its clients receive competent advice and that it is compliant with each state’s rules of professional conduct for attorneys. For example, when working on matters concerning California law or involving a California client, non-California attorneys will work in conjunction with a California-licensed lawyer and with full disclosure to the client.
Privacy
This Privacy Policy describes how FPLG collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit www.fplglaw.com (the “Site”), contact us, or subscribe to our content. It also describes the privacy rights available to you under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”), and other applicable state privacy laws, and how to exercise them.
A note on client information. Information we receive in connection with an attorney-client relationship or prospective engagement is governed by our professional obligations, including the attorney-client privilege and our duty of confidentiality under applicable rules of professional conduct. Those protections exceed the requirements of this Policy, and nothing in this Policy limits them. Certain rights described below (such as deletion) may not apply to information we are required to retain under our professional and ethical obligations.
Personal Information We Collect (Notice at Collection)
We collect the following categories of personal information, and have collected them in the preceding 12 months:
- Identifiers — such as your name, email address, phone number, and IP address, collected when you fill out a form on the Site (for example, our contact or subscription forms), call us, or otherwise contact us.
- Internet or other electronic network activity information — such as the pages you visit, how you arrived at the Site, the date and time of your visit, browser and device information, and interactions with our content, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies described below.
- Approximate geolocation information — such as the general location derived from your IP address.
- Professional or employment-related information — such as your role or organization type, if you choose to provide it when contacting us.
- Inferences — limited inferences drawn from the information above, such as your likely interest in our services or content.
We collect this information directly from you, automatically from your browser or device when you use the Site, and from the analytics and advertising providers described below. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we do not use or disclose personal information for purposes of inferring characteristics about you.
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with our legal and professional obligations, and to resolve disputes. Retention periods vary by category: inquiry and correspondence records are retained consistent with our records-retention practices and professional responsibilities; cookie-derived data is retained according to the settings of the applicable cookie, as described in our cookie preferences.
How We Use Personal Information
We use the personal information we collect to:
- Respond to your questions, comments, and requests, including scheduling consultations;
- Send you content you have subscribed to, such as our Insights publications (every email includes unsubscribe instructions);
- Operate, secure, and improve the Site, and understand how visitors use it;
- Market our services, including showing you relevant FPLG content on other platforms as described below;
- Comply with legal, regulatory, and professional obligations.
We do not use personal information for purposes materially different from those described in this Policy without notifying you.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies in three categories, which you can manage at any time through the “Cookie Preferences” link in the Site footer:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required to make the Site function, including page navigation, security, form submissions, and remembering your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics cookies — we use Google Analytics (deployed through Google Tag Manager) and StatCounter to understand how visitors find and use the Site. The information generated by these cookies, including your IP address, is transmitted to and stored by those providers. We use it in aggregate form to measure and improve the Site.
- Advertising and social media cookies — we use the Meta Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, and the LinkedIn Insight Tag to measure the effectiveness of our content and advertising and to show relevant FPLG updates and advertisements to previous Site visitors on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and across the Google advertising network. These technologies share information about your visit with the applicable third parties, who may combine it with other information they hold about you and use it in accordance with their own privacy policies. In addition to the cookie preferences described above, you can manage ad personalization directly with Google at adssettings.google.com, with Meta in your Facebook ad settings, and with LinkedIn in your account settings.
Selling and Sharing of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. However, our use of advertising cookies described above may constitute “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA. The categories shared for this purpose are identifiers and internet or other electronic network activity information, and the recipients are our advertising partners (currently Meta). You have the right to opt out of this sharing at any time, as described below. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age.
Other Disclosures of Personal Information
We disclose personal information to service providers and contractors who perform services on our behalf — such as website hosting, analytics, email delivery, client intake, and practice management — under contracts that restrict their use of the information to providing those services. We may also disclose personal information to comply with law, regulation, subpoena, or court order; to protect the rights, property, or safety of FPLG, our clients, or others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our practice, consistent with applicable rules of professional conduct.
Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information, subject to certain exceptions (including our professional and ethical obligations as a law firm):
- Right to know and access — to request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom it was disclosed, sold, or shared.
- Right to delete — to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal and professional retention obligations.
- Right to correct — to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing — to direct us not to sell or share your personal information, including sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
How to exercise your rights. You may submit a request by calling us toll-free at 1-877-FPLG-LAW or by emailing operations@forpurposelaw.com. To opt out of the sharing of your personal information, you may also click “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” in the Site footer and disable advertising and social media cookies, or use a browser or extension that transmits the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — we treat GPC signals as a valid request to opt out of sharing for that browser.
We will verify requests to know, delete, or correct by matching the information you provide with information we maintain; we may ask for additional information solely for verification. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, in which case we may require proof of the agent’s authority and verification of your identity. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days, and if we need more time (up to an additional 45 days), we will notify you in writing.
Other State Privacy Rights
Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Maryland, and others) may have similar rights of access, correction, deletion, and opt-out of targeted advertising, to the extent those laws apply to us. You may exercise any applicable rights using the contact methods above, and where required, we will honor a right to appeal a decision by responding in writing with the reasons for our determination.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). As noted above, we do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last Updated” date above. Material changes will be noted on this page. This Policy supersedes the version last modified on August 22, 2025.
