Kelsey Beaman is an Associate Attorney at For Purpose Law Group, where she advises nonprofit organizations and mission-driven businesses on the contracts, compliance, and governance matters that keep their work moving forward. She brings a rare combination of courtroom-caliber legal training and nearly a decade of hands-on experience managing complex, cross-border legal and compliance functions for international organizations.
Prior to joining FPLG, Kelsey served as a Contracts and Compliance Advisor to a global international development organization, where she drafted and negotiated complex agreements, advised on corporate governance and regulatory compliance, and used AI to streamline contracting operations. Before that, she spent nearly a decade at Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, where she rose to Grants and Contracts Manager overseeing a global portfolio exceeding $800 million across more than 30 countries. There, she negotiated and administered prime awards, subawards, and partnership agreements with funders including USAID, the CDC, the Department of Defense, and the Global Fund, and built the policies and systems that let a fast-growing global organization manage legal and financial risk at scale.
Kelsey earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, graduating Order of the Coif and magna cum laude, ranked 11th in her class. While in law school, she served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable M. Margaret McKeown on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, drafting bench memoranda and opinions in complex appellate matters, and worked as a Law Clerk at Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek, a San Diego litigation and corporate firm. She also volunteered with Jewish Family Service of San Diego's immigration law program, supporting asylum, U-visa, and removal defense cases. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration, with a concentration in International Business and Finance and a minor in Spanish, from the University of South Carolina.
At FPLG, Kelsey is known for her sharp analytical mind, her calm and meticulous approach to complex agreements, and her genuine enthusiasm for finding smarter, more efficient ways to serve nonprofit clients. She continues to give back through the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, supporting guardianship and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases, and is conversational in Spanish.
