As Senior Counsel at For Purpose Law Group, Geena Yu draws on deep experience in nonprofit, tax, and corporate law to guide mission-driven organizations at every stage of their journey—from formation and growth to complex charitable transactions and beyond. She regularly advises on grantmaking, conflict of interest issues, unrelated business income tax, property tax exemptions, employment law, and intellectual property considerations. Before joining FPLG, Geena served tax-exempt organizations at a large San Francisco-based law firm, following prior roles as a Senior Associate at KPMG LLP, where she advised private equity and corporate clients on tax-efficient structures for buy-side transactions. She also held Vice President roles at MUFG Union Bank, focusing on global trust services and contract negotiation. Throughout her career, Geena has remained committed to service, including providing pro bono legal assistance to low-income taxpayers through the Justice and Diversity Center’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.
