Megan K. Laird serves as Senior Counsel at For Purpose Law Group, bringing nearly 20 years of experience advising organizations and individuals on complex nonprofit and tax-exempt matters. Known for her strategic insight and client-first approach, Megan works closely with nonprofit leaders to navigate formation, compliance, fundraising, and risk management with clarity and confidence.

Megan’s deep expertise was built through years of experience at KPMG, LLP, where she advised tax-exempt organizations on issues like lobbying restrictions, sponsorship agreements, unrelated business income, and complex planned giving arrangements. She has counseled nonprofit boards and executives on best practices around Form 990 compliance, conflicts of interest, and organizational governance, helping leaders safeguard their missions while advancing their goals.

Before joining FPLG, Megan served as the Director of the Property Tax Division at Maine Revenue Services, where she oversaw valuation audits and supervised the administration of property taxes in Maine’s Unorganized Territory. She also worked directly with state legislators—reviewing proposed legislation, implementing new programs, and offering key insights to the Maine State Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Taxation.

Earlier in her career, Megan founded her own estate planning practice, crafting personalized plans and Medicaid asset protection strategies for individuals and families. She also advised private equity clients and strategic buyers on tax analysis and structuring for mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructurings.

Throughout every chapter of her career, Megan’s focus has remained the same: empowering clients through deep technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and unwavering client service.

Emily Little to Join Panel at 2025 National Adaptive Leadership Summit
